Royce Edward Hawk "Makoons" (Little Cub) of the Kingfisher Clan, age 54, entered into the spirit world on Saturday, August 14, 2021.

Royce was born July 21, 1967, in Red Lake. Minnesota, to Verdie Willit and Florence Hawk. He attended elementary school in Red Lake and high school in Virginia, Minnesota, where he obtained his GED. Royce lived in the Bemidji area throughout his adult life. He worked as a logger in the Saum sawmill and as a roofer for many years. Royce loved being with family and his many friends. His favorite things were listening to music, being an avid fan of Hank Williams, Sr., and playing cards and having a few with friends.

Waiting to greet Royce are his parents, Verdie Willit and Florence Hawk; his special aunt, Delores Hawk, who raised him when he lost his mother; special cousin, Dean Kingbird; and numerous aunts and uncles. Royce will be forever remembered by his daughters, Heather Hawk and Elicia Hawk, and his granddaughter Keiko Hawk.

A wake for Royce will begin on Wednesday, August 18, 2021, at 1:00 pm at the Ponemah Boys & Girls Club in Ponemah, MN and will continue until his service on Thursday, August 19, 2021 at 10:00 am. His spiritual leader will be Allen Hardy. Pallbearers caring for Royce will be Preston Spears, Verlin "Itto" Kingbird, Sr., James "Yummy" Kingbird, Vernon Kingbird, Benjamin Kingbird, and Mike Spears. Honorary Pallbearers will be all his friends and family. Burial will follow at the Hawk Family Burial Grounds, Ponemah MN.
