Mary Jean (Barrett) May, age 49, of Thief River Falls, MN, traveled to the Spirit World on Friday, May 3, 2024, as a result of a motor vehicle accident near Oklee, MN.

Mary was born on June 2, 1974 in Red Lake, MN, to Gene W. Barrett and Francis (Rosebear) Barrett. She grew up in Red Lake and worked for Red Lake Gaming at the River Road Casino in Thief River Falls, MN. Mary was a loving mother to her sons and daughter. She loved traveling and visiting friends and relatives. She was protective of those she loved and looked forward to spending time with them.

She will be loving remembered by her children: Craig (Shianne) Graves Jr, Tyrone (Robert) Barrett and Roberta Jean (Jerrik DeMarrias) Barrett; grandchildren: Zeppelin Graves, Halen Graves, Isaac Lussier, Isabel Lussier and Jerrik DeMarrias Jr; siblings: Herb (Jane) Tarnow Jr, Chance Tarnow, Brenda (Doug Cook) Tarnow, Arlene (Chris May Sr) Barrett, Kimberly Barrett, Gene Barrett Jr, Frank Barrett, Leah Ann Barrett, Bobby Joe Holstein and Boneta Johnson; uncles: Frank Barrett, Charles (Debbie) Barrett, Terry Barrett and Daryl Barrett; aunts: Jean Barrett, Becky Barrett, Florence Larson, Maxine (Robert) Folstad, Peggy (Richard) Grundmeier and Kellie Barrett; as well as numerous other relatives and friends.

Those greeting her in the Spirit World are her parents; husband Dean May; her special friend Derrick A. Smith, Sr; sisters: Charlotte Tarnow and Sheila Barrett; uncles: Adolph Barrett and Raymond Barrett; aunt: Annette Barrett; grandson: Kory Lussier Jr; as well as numerous other relatives.

The wake will begin at 1 PM on Monday, May 13, 2024, at the New Little Rock Community Center and continue until the service at 1 PM on Tuesday, May 14, 2024, with Father John Christianson officiating. Active Pallbearers will be Brian Graves Jr, Bronson White, Tyrese Barrett, Jerrik DeMarrias, Kurtis Blake Tarnow and Dan Schoenborn. Honorary Pallbearers will be Teddy Tarnow and all her family and friends. Burial will be at St Mary's Cemetery in Red Lake.
