Sheila Marie Brown, age 52, of Sisseton, South Dakota, began her spirit journey on September 22, 2023, from Sandford USD in Sioux Falls, South Dakota. She was born to Rodney St. John and Barbara Brown on April 29, 1971, in Minneapolis, Minnesota.

She went to Heart of the Earth Survival School where she spoke proudly of being a part of the Drum and Dance group, where she met her lifelong friend, Darla Diver. She spoke fondly of being on the cheerleading squad. Her dad Rodney "Rock" St John always bragged about how smart his "lil Sheila" was and how much she enjoyed reading. He also fondly reminisced of her childhood stay in Veblen, SD, with him and her other "mom" Roselyn St John.

Some of the books and movies she enjoyed were the" tear-jerker" life/love story dramas. So many times, you could catch her reading a short story, or watching a movie, TV show and she'd be shedding a tear. It's probably because for such a tiny woman she carried a love so big it couldn't be measured. She always had such a kind, caring heart. She loved the people in her life wholeheartedly. She made many friends in her lifetime, some of which she placed as close as family. If you asked her or anyone else, her best friend was her mother, Barbara Brown. But it can't go without saying the adoration she had for the children in her family. From her own children to her younger siblings, to her nieces and nephews, as well as all her cousins, and most recently her grandchildren. The warmth and glow from her heart to the smile on her face when she'd watch them play and play with them and hear them laugh. Her smile grew even more when she spent time with the rest of her family. She carried the same devotion and love for her faith and prayer, which She always credited her grandmother Rose Brown and later her mom Roselyn St John with. She spent many times in her life praying with and for those she held close. She spent so many moments creating beautiful memories with people that there's not enough room on a page to list them all. She was a typical 80's '90 teen she talked about Tupac Shakur and listened to Prince. Her exterior beauty she caringly mirrored to her internal beautiful heart. She lived life on her terms and goals, whether it took minutes, hours, or years she met every single one. She was strong, beautiful, loving, faith-filled, fun, and will be remembered as the Beautiful Soul she was and forever will be in the hearts of her loved ones.

Family that she is reunited with in the spirit world are her mother, Barbara J. Brown; grandparents, Daniel Kingbird, Rose M. Brown, Edward M. and Celesta E. (LeBlanc) St. John; brother, Burton J. Brown; sisters; Hope R. St. John, Clara M. St. John, Jessie Brown, Kelly Brown and "Babyboy" St. John.

Those she leaves to cherish her memory are her parents, Rodney (Rose) St. John; son, Jordan Brown; daughter, Alyssa (Alice) Brown; brothers, Charles Headbird, S., and his 6 children and Sheldon T. Brown, and his 3 children; sisters, Angelic St. John and her 4 children and Sarah St. John and her 5 children.

An overnight wake for Sheila will begin at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday, September 26, 2023, and continue until her 11:00 a.m. traditional service on Wednesday, September 27, 2023, all to be held at the Veterans Memorial Building in Cass Lake, MN. Allan Hardy will be Sheila's Spiritual Advisor. Those helping to lay Sheila to rest are Delano Brown, TeeJay St. John, Sheldon Brown, Jr., Donovan Staples, Mark Hanson, and Jim Brown. Alternate pallbearers are Joe Wilson and Jeff Brown. Honorary pallbearers are Kim St. John, Cheryl Spider, Nita Brown, and all Sheila's family and friends. Interment will be at Prince of Peace Cemetery in Cass Lake, MN.
