John Henry Bobolink, age 56, of Minneapolis, MN, journeyed to the spirit world on Tuesday February 27, 2024. John was born on February 2, 1968 in Minneapolis, Minnesota, to John and Patricia Bobolink. He went to college at Augsburg, Metro State, and the University of Minnesota earning a master's degree in educational leadership. John was a loving husband, amazing father and a proud grandfather. John was the Director of the Saint Paul Public Schools Indian Education Program where he has spent the last 20+ years. He was a strong advocate for native American youth and their education.

John made many friends over the years and cherished their friendship, wisdom, laughs, and light they brought to his life. John loved his family most and enjoyed spending quality time with them with a cup of coffee always in his hand. John liked watching all the Star Wars movies and the new Star Wars TV shows. He also enjoyed playing family games like Apples to Apples and How Well Do You Know Your Family? He liked yelling, "THEY CHEATIN" while playing his backgammon game and he enjoyed his sugar free candy and wild berry pie.

John loved going to powwows and spending time with his Native American community.

John is preceded in death by his parents, John and Patricia Bobolink.

John is survived by his wife, Colleen Bobolink; children, Breanne, John (Jeselina), Krista, and Mason Bobolink; granddaughter, Evelynn Bobolink all of Minneapolis; sister, Susan (Dennis)

Bobolink of Minneapolis; also numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.

A wake will be held on Saturday, March 2, 2024 from 3:00 P.M. – 7:00 P.M. at the American Indian Magnet School in St. Paul, Minnesota. Officiating will be Jerry Dearly. Special Music will be "Hoka Maza Oka" and "Imniza Ska".

Honorary Casket Bearers will be St. Paul Indian Education Program Staff, Norman Benson and Jerry Dearly

Casket Bearers will be John Bobolink, Bo Johnson, Dennis Gilbert JR. Dominic Goodbuffalo, Michael Yzaquirre, Scott Perkins, Mason Bobolink and Anthony Yzaquirre.

Private Interment: Mokahum Cemetery in Cass Lake, Minnesota.
