Ferdinand "Bill" Martineau Sr.
February 4, 1937 - January 9, 2021
Ferdinand "Bill" W. Martineau Sr., age 84 of Cloquet, passed away Sunday, January 9, 2022, at Sunnyside Health Care Center. He was born February 4, 1937, in Cloquet, the son of Eustace "Joe" and Josephine (Peterson) Martineau. Bill was united in marriage to Loretta M. Barney on February 22, 1955. He served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War. Bill worked as a logger and also for Potlatch Corporation and retired from the Fond du Lac Reservation recycling center. He as a member of Fond du Lac Band of Lake Superior Chippewa and Holy Family Catholic Church.
Bill was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Loretta Martineau; daughters, Louella, Carolyn, and Cathleen; and all his siblings. He is survived by his two sons, Ferdinand (Betty) Martineau Jr. and Francis (Rita) Martineau; three daughters, Linda Savage, Juanita (Chris) Anderson, and Karen Martineau; 16 grandchildren; numerous great-grandchildren, great-great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be Wednesday, January 12, 2022, from 5:00-7:00 p.m. at Nelson Funeral Care in Cloquet with a Rosary Service at 6:30 p.m. The visitation will resume on Thursday, January 13, 2022, from 10:00 a.m. until the 11:00 a.m. Mass of Christian Burial at Queen of Peace Catholic Church. Interment service will be at Old Holy Family Cemetery, followed with a luncheon at the Fond du Lac Cultural Center.
