Eleanora L. Boutwell, 83, Ogema, MN, died Friday, August 2, 2019 at her home under the care of Hospice of the Red River Valley. Funeral services will be 1:00 PM, Thursday, August 8 at St. Columba Episcopal Church in White Earth, Reverend Jackie Bernacchi, officiating. Interment will be in Calvary Cemetery, White Earth.

Friends may call 5:00 – 7:00 pm with a prayer service at 7:00 pm Wednesday at David-Donehower Funeral Home in Detroit Lakes and at the church 1 hour prior to the service on Thursday.

Eleanora Louise Boutwell was born February 28, 1936 in Sisseton, SD to Howard and Catherine (Cottier) Robertson. She is a 1954 graduate of Sisseton High School and then attended Haskell Institute in Kansas where she received a degree in Education. Eleanora was united in marriage to Clifford Peters. They lived in Germany where their first child was born. They divorced and Eleanora returned to Flandreau where she met Galen Boutwell while doing her laundry. They were united in marriage in 1961 in Flandreau. They lived on a number of reservations prior to moving to White Earth, MN in 1975.

She taught at the Circle of Life School in White Earth for over 40 years. Galen died in 1997 and Eleanora moved to Ogema in 1978. In addition to teaching, she enjoyed Ojibwe Crafts, sewing, BINGO and the Ojibwe language.

Survivors include 3 children: Clifford (Judy) Peters of Flandreau, SD, Kathryn Peters of Ogema, MN, Brent (Sharon Fischer) Boutwell of Ogema. MN, 5 Grandchildren, 6 great grandchildren (and one on the way), 3 sisters: Wanda Cadotte, Nancy Herrick and Carol Robertson, all of Flandreau, SD. David-Donehower Funeral Home is serving the family.

She was preceded in death by her brother, Sunny Robertson.
