Henry James Neeland

Henry James Neeland, 43, of Bagley, MN died on Saturday, January 4, 2014 at Mahnomen Health Care Center in Mahnomen, MN.

Funeral services are pending at this time.

Henry was born April 11, 1970 in St. Paul, MN to parents John A. Spears and Celestia Catherine Neeland. He grew up in Rice Lake and Nay Tah Waush attending school in Bagley, MN graduating in 1989. Henry worked shortly for the DNR. He also worked in security at Shooting Star Casino in Mahnomen, MN and as a gaming officer at Seven Clans Casino in Thief River Falls, MN.

Henry married Brenda Broten on November 12, 1994 in Bagley, MN and they have resided there ever since.

He worked at Bagley School with special needs kids and coached football and wrestling for 5th and 6th graders. He also worked for Red Lake Builders and was currently employed with MN Limited working as a heavy equipment operator.

Henry was an avid hunter and fisherman. Henry loved being outdoors with his children and teaching them the skills he learned. Each season he was busy playing in a sport whether he was injured or not. Henry enjoyed going to Pow-Wows and was a traditional dancer. Henry loved spending time with his grandchildren. He was a very generous person and asked for nothing in return.

He is survived by his wife – Brenda Neeland of Bagley, MN Children – Henry "Jordy", Blake, Nick, Adam, Andy, Hannah and Samantha Grandchildren – Faith, Rachael, Logan, Alex, Olivia and Hunter Mother – Celestia Neeland of Mahnomen, MN Father – John A. Spears of Red Lake, MN Sisters – Adrianne (Hector) Martinez, Victoria (Donovan) Wind, Veronica Littlewolf, Valerie Cash and Geraldine "Binky" Wise Mother-in-law – Joann Broten of Rochester, MN Extended family – Mr. and Mrs. Peter Thompson of Bagley, MN, Carol and Gary Vik of Mahnomen, MN and Cheryl and Mike Troxell of Bagley, MN

He was preceded in death by his grandparents – Henry and Freanette Neeland and father-in-law – Stan Broten
