Bernard "Scotty" Rogers, age 70, of Mahnomen, MN, died Tuesday, January 20, 2015, at home under the care of Hospice of the Red River Valley.

Bernard Earl Rogers, lovingly known as Scotty, was born on April 1, 1944 in White Earth, MN, to Archie and Bessie (Beaupre) Rogers. He was raised on the White Earth Reservation and attended school here. On March 6, 1965 Scotty married Gayle Oppegard and they moved to the Minneapolis, MN area. Scotty worked various jobs but spent most of his time hanging sheetrock for construction companies. In the mid 1980's Scotty moved back to the Mahnomen area. He worked at the Shooting Star Casino in the buffet before his retirement.

Scotty loved to be outdoors and never missed a chance to go deer hunting or snaring. He also enjoyed playing Bingo and poker. Scotty was loyally devoted to his family and his wife, Gayle, was his whole world. He cherished his grandchildren and had a special bond with granddaughter, Kristen, and great-grandchildren, Wyatt and Kristella. Scotty's wonderful sense of humor will be remembered always. Scotty is survived by his wife, Gayle of Mahnomen; one daughter, Bonnie Martinez of Mahnomen; two sons, Wesley "Pete" Warren of Detroit Lakes, MN, and Scott Warren of White Earth; one sister, Linda Rogers of White Earth; seven grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; several sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law; and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; one infant son, Bernard Rogers Jr.; four brothers: Delmar, Delbert, Lavern, and Marvin; and three sisters: Betty, Sharon, and Marilyn.

Funeral Services will be held on Friday, January 23, 2015, at 3:00 p.m. at Samuel Memorial Episcopal Church in Naytahwaush, MN. Visitation will be held at the church from 5:00 until 7:00, with a Prayer Service beginning and 7:00pm on Thursday, January 22, 2015.

Burial will be in Samuel Memorial Episcopal Cemetery, Naytahwaush.
