Call for artists for Southeastern Art Show and Market

The Chickasaw Nation is accepting applications for the 2022 Southeastern Art Show and Market (SEASAM) and SEASAM Youth. Coinciding with the Chickasaw Annual Meeting and Festival, SEASAM and SEASAM Youth will take place Sept. 30 through Oct. 1, in Tishomingo, Oklahoma. The Chickasaw Nation is accepting applications now through Aug. 12.

Artists from federally recognized Southeastern First American tribes are encouraged to enter the competition. Basketry, beadwork/quillwork, diverse, drawing, graphic arts, jewelry, mixed media, painting, photography, pottery, sculpture, textiles, traditional dress and regalia, and weaponry, among others, are available categories for entry.

Cash prizes are available in all categories, including Best of Division and Best of Show, selected by judges. Artists may enter four works of art, up to two works of art per category.

The youth artist competition is open to those ages 14 to 17 years old as of Sept. 1. Youth entries will include two-dimensional, three-dimensional and cultural categories. Youth artists may enter two works of art per category, up to four entries of art total. Cash prizes are available within each category selected by judges.
