RED LAKE BAND OF CHIPPEWA INDIANS

PRIMARY FUNCTION:

The Project Coordinator assists with project management by coordinating activities and logistics related to projects. Reports to Project Lead, full-time positions w/benefits, Salary; DOQ.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

The following duties and responsibilities are a reasonable representation but not an exclusive list of those of the Project Coordinator.

• Assists with the day-to-day administration of projects.

• Provides logistical support for all projects.

• Coordinates the project schedule, budget, and the issues and risks of projects, ensuring that the project is well-organized and is running smoothly.

• Communicates with various departments in the organization to ensure there is linked communication and everyone is on the same page.

• Ensures the team has the tools they need to execute the project.

• Creates a project schedule, with milestones, due dates, and estimates for those materials that are required and other resources, such as team members, which will then be submitted to management for approval.

• Assists with the documentation of each phase of the project, as well as creating summary reports that will be presented to the management team.

• Works with team members in the field or onsite to resolve issues.

• Develops a strong working unit and supports their impact on the success of a project.

• Organizes, maintains, and revises project files and documents.

• Performs other duties as assigned

EDUCATION/WORK EXPERIENCE/QUALIFICATIONS:

• Prior experience working with Native American populations

• Three (3) years of relevant experience with at least two years of community-based participatory research, and two years of work with American Indian/Alaskan Native communities

• A Bachelor's Degree in Project Management, Business Administration, American Indian or Indigenous Studies, or other closely-related field of study

• Knowledge of the concepts related to project management, including meeting scheduling, travel logistics, and financial reconciliation

• Knowledge of budget development, analysis, oversight and expense control

• Ability to synthesize complex information, read work flows, and procedures

• Demonstrated accuracy, thoroughness, and strong attention to detail

• Ability to identify and resolve problems in a timely manner and respond promptly

• Experience in detailed research

• Knowledge of Tribal sovereignty and the impact of applicable regulatory standards; a strong commitment to social justice and experience partnering with under-served communities

• Knowledge of grant application, administration, and compliance

• Strong interpersonal skills, with demonstrated ability to earn trust and respect of colleagues and partners at all levels, and from diverse backgrounds and cultures

• Flexibility with shifting priorities and competing demands

• Excellent verbal and written communication and presentation skills

• Ability to function as an effective member of a work group, gaining the respect and cooperation of others

• Excellent planning and organization skills

• History of successful and positive working relationships with all prior employers

• Sensitivity towards the Native American culture

• A record of satisfactory performance in all prior and current employment, as evidenced by positive employment references from period and current employers and other references

• Basic computer and software skills are required, including, but not limited to Microsoft products such as Excel, Word, Adobe PDF, and Outlook

• Working towards Project Management Professional Certification (PMP)

• Employment is contingent upon passing a pre-employment drug test and comprehensive background check.
