Woman pleads not guilty in stabbing death

RAPID CITY, S.D. (KOTA TV) -- A Rapid City woman accused of stabbing a man to death last month pleaded not guilty Friday to second degree murder charges.

Prosecutors say Lorraine Swallow stabbed her nephew Tyrell Bull Bear "multiple times" after an altercation on Dec. 8 at a residence on Castle Heights Place.

Swallow says that she acted in self defense. Judge Matthew Brown lowered Swallow's bond from $100,000 cash only to $100,000 cash or surety but Swallow's lawyer indicated Swallow would still be unable to post that amount.

Swallow faces a mandatory life sentence if convicted. She is due back in court on Jan. 18.
