A Message from the Red Lake School District

Red Lake Schools Families and Staff,

Every year on this day, there are concerns and rumors surrounding the safety of our schools. This year, those types of concerns and rumors have surrounded us in the national media as well. For the Red Lake School community and the Red Lake Nation community, this can be especially trying. As part of the healing process, we continue to struggle with and move through these concerns and rumors.

This year is no different. Please be assured that we have been in contact with law enforcement and that despite any concerns or rumors that may exist, there are no known threats to our schools surrounding this day. Our schools will continue to operate as normal. School staff will remain extra vigilant, just as they do every year on today's date.

Days like today serve to remind us of the precious and sacred nature of life; especially with regard to the lives of our children. In honor of the lives lost thirteen years ago, flags at the schools will be flown at half-staff for the remainder of the day. Thank you for your dedication to the safety and well-being of our children; today and every day.

Respectfully,

Dustin Hinckley, Asst. Supt.

on behalf of all Red Lake School District Administration
