Ronald William King ("Makwa" Black bear)

Ronald William King ("Makwa" Black bear), 55, died August 23d in Bemidji.

Funeral services were held September 23 at the St Mary's Catholic Church with Father Jerry Rogers officiating. He was laid to rest at the St Mary's catholic cemetery in Red Lake.

Ronald was born July 30, 1960, the son of Robert King, and Lillian Margaret Kingbird. He also had a brother Nathan James Kingbird who is also deceased.

He was raised, and educated in St Paul where he spent most of his life. He was proud of his Red Lake affiliation as a band member, and kept close contact with friends back home through writing letters, and reading the Red Lake Nation newsletter.

He recently moved back to the area to live out his remaining days.
