Melvina "Tiny" Kay Jackson

Melvina “Tiny” Kay Jackson, 53, of Redby died Friday, April 6, 2012 in Minneapolis, MN.

Memorial Services will be 2:00 pm Wednesday, April 11, 2012 at the Redby Community Center in Redby, MN with Paul Stroble. A wake will begin 2:00 pm Tuesday, April 10, 2012 at the Redby Center and will continue until the time of service on Wednesday. The Cease Family Funeral Home of Bemidji assisted the family with arrangements. Interment will be at Redby Community Cemetery.

Tiny was born August 7, 1958 in Red Lake, MN, the daughter of Melvin and Margaret “Maggie” (Jefferson) Jackson. She was raised and educated in Red Lake. She worked at various places including; casinos as a cook and cashier, as a cook and driver at the Redby Halfway House and the Red Lake Day Care and as a PCA. She loved being with her grandkids and visiting with friends. She provided a lot of rides for friends and family- She was “everyone’s chauffeur”.

She is survived by her children: Melvin (Nancy) Jackson of Red Lake; Rodney (Samantha) Jackson of Redby; James Fairbanks of Cass Lake; Melanie (Perry White, Jr.) Jourdain of Red Lake; Wallace Kingbird III of Ponemah; 14 grandchildren; 2 sisters- Christine (Jocko) Thunder of Redby and Joyce Batdorf of St. Paul

She was preceded in death by her parents, infant son- Steve Smith, Jr., grandson- Rodney Jackson Jr., 6 brothers- Elmer, Dennis, Chris, Julius, George and Truman, 3 sisters – Arliss, Lorna and Gloria.

Honorary Casketbearers will be Steven Johnson, Sr., Raleigh Oakgrove, Gloria, Loree and Maggie Jackson, Val Jones, Melody Strong, Candy Beaulieu, Mary Omen, Jan Roberts, Marilee “Buddha” Strong Barb Thunder, Sophia Schoenborn, Crystal Cobenais and Cecelia Oakgrove.
