Alvin Leroy Amberson Sr.

Alvin Leroy Amberson Sr., 76 of Bemidji died Wednesday, September 21, 2011 at Sanford Bemidji Medical Center.

Funeral Services will be 11:00 am, Monday, September 26, 2011 at the Cease Family Funeral Home in Bemidji, MN. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the funeral home. Interment will be at the Bagley City Cemetery in Bagley, MN under the direction of the Cease Family Funeral Home of Bemidji.

He was born on November 3, 1934, in Mentor, MN, the son of Peter and Palma Amberson. He was raised and educated in Mentor. He left home when he was 16 to work as a carpenter on area farms. He married Ella Hardy, and together they had 3 children. He worked as a farmhand and a lumberjack for many years supporting his family. From 1981-1986 he worked at the landfill for the City of Watford, ND. He moved to Bemidji, and worked as a janitor at the Beltrami County Law Enforcement Center until his retirement in 2000. His wife Ella Amberson passed away on May 22, 2009. He enjoyed working on the farm, raising livestock, gardening, and being outdoors. He married Judith Greenleaf on September 25, 2010 in Bemidji.

He is survived by : wife, Judith Greenleaf of Bemidji, Sons, Alvin (Stacey) Amberson Jr. of West Fargo, ND, Clint Amberson of Red Lake, MN, 4 Grandchildren, numerous nieces, and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, wife Ella Amberson, son Leroy Amberson, 4 brothers, and 3 sisters.
