    A former Miss North Dakota was found dead Tuesday in a Minneapolis home. Investigators are waiting for the Hennepin County medical examiner to determine the cause of Samantha M. Edwards’ death, said Minneapolis police spokesman John Elder.   • Hundreds of replacement nurses will arrive soon as Allina girds for a strike

    Hundreds of nurses from all 50 states have applied to work in Minnesota as part of Allina Health’s plan to keep its Twin Cities hospitals open if its regular nurses carry out a threat to go on strike this Sunday.     Prosecutors in southern Minnesota aren’t saying that Long Vang provided a weapon to Jessica Haban or gave her instructions on how to kill herself. And they aren’t saying Vang supplied Haban, the mother of his two children, with an illicit drug that led to her death.   • North Dakota oil production posts biggest drop in state's history

    North Dakota’s oil fields posted another grim month in April with production dropping by 70,000 barrels per day, the largest month-to-month decline in the state’s history. The oil drilling rig count fell from 29 in April to 27 in May, the lowest since July 2005.     The man shot by a Pine Ridge tribal police officer earlier this month has died from his injuries, according to authorities, who say the incident remains under investigation. The FBI identified the dead man as Jamie Lee Brave Heart. He was a member of the Oglala Sioux Tribe.     A resident of the Shinnecock Indian Reservation was arrested by State Police following a shooting on the night of Monday, June 6, that left another man with multiple non-life-threatening gunshot wounds.     A Navajo man lost his appeal of a 75-month prison sentence for a drunken driving fatality. Almundo Cruz Singer pled guilty to one count of involuntary manslaughter in April, 2015, admitting he was driving under the influence when he struck and killed Marvin J.
