The 13th Annual Red Lake Nation Youth Leadership Conference was held Wednesday thru Friday, May 29-31, 2019, at Red Lake High School in Red Lake, MN. The conference theme this year was "Indigenous Power." The conference featured national and local speakers, presenters and performers, as well as youth activities and a banquet. The body of a missing woman, Wahbinmigisi "Pennie" Robertson, 31, of the Fond du Lac Reservation, has been found, according to tribal spokeswoman Makayla Telfer. MINNEAPOLIS -- A man who died of multiple gunshot wounds in an early morning shooting Thursday, May 30, in Minneapolis was identified as a 28-year-old from Cass Lake. The Hennepin County Medical Examiner identified the homicide victim as Lawrence Dean Hart Jr. According to the medical examiner’s report, the shooting occurred at East Lake Street and 12th Avenue South in Minneapolis.
