George "Porgy" Henry Auginaush

George (Porgy) Auginaush 83 of Rice Lake, MN died on Wednesday, January 7, 2015 at the Sanford Fargo Medical Center in Fargo, North Dakota.

Traditional funeral services will be held on Wednesday, January 14, 2015 at 1:00 PM at the Rice Lake Community Center in Rice Lake with Spiritual Leaders Raymond Auginaush and Danny Seaboy officiating. A wake will begin on Monday at 4:00 P.M. and continue until the time of service. Military rites will be accorded by the White Earth Honor Guard. Interment will be at St. Phillip’s Episcopal Cemetery in Rice Lake. The Cease Family Funeral Home of Bagley assisted with the arrangements.

George was born April 23, 1931 in Red Lake, Minnesota the son of John and Louise (Gagnon) Auginaush. He was raised at Rice Lake and attended the Flandreau Indian School in Flandreau, South Dakota. George served in the U.S. Army from 1951-1953 during the Korean War. He was a Military Policeman. After the war he came back to Rice Lake where he logged. George served one term as District 1 representative on the White Earth Reservation Council.

George was a member of the White Earth Honor Guard, and the AMVETS. He enjoyed going to pow-wows, playing softball, and traditional dancing.

George married Daisy Byrd in 1955 and she died in 1981.

Survivors include- 5 daughters- Laura Auginaush (Jack) of Minneapolis, MN Sandy Auginaush of Bagley, MN Karrie Auginaush of NayTahWaush, MN Mary Auginaush of NayTahWaush, MN Becky Auginaush of Rice Lake, MN 6 Sons- George (Carolyn) Auginaush Jr. of Rice Lake, MN Bruce Auginaush of Rice Lake, MN Tony (Holly) Auginaush of Rice Lake, MN Jamie (Rita) Auginaush of Rice Lake, MN Brent (Angie) Auginaush of Champlin, MN Russell (Bonnie) Auginaush of NayTahWaush, MN 33 grandchildren 46 great grandchildren 1 great great grandchild 1 sister- Isabelle Thompson of Rice Lake, MN 6 Brothers- Raymond (Bernadine) Fox of Rice Lake, Mn Richard (Lorraine) Fox of Rice Lake, MN Earl Fox of Rice Lake, MN Louie (Leah) Fox of Mahnomen, MN David and Danny Seaboy of Sisseton, SD

He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, Son- Kenny, granddaughter- Desirae, Grandson- Jerad, 3 great great granddaughters, 4 sisters and three brothers.
