Roxanne May, "Makoons" (Bear Cub) Clan: Zhaangweshii (Mink), age 51 of Red Lake, Minnesota Journeyed to the Spirit World on Saturday, February 15, 2014 at The IHS Hospital in Red Lake, Minnesota.

She was born on November 15, 1962 in Red Lake, Minnesota the daughter of Herbert (Zemo) May and Melinda Blue.

Roxanne loved being surrounded by her children, but most of all her grandchildren. She liked joy riding, listening to her music, going to the casino, talking on the phone with her sisters.

She loved to learn! Roxanne attended school in Red Lake then went on to college where she got her Business Degree from Northwest Tech in Bemidji. Roxanne was a hard worker all of her life. She started at a very young age.

Roxanne was an avid fisherwoman who knew all about the processing of fish.

She worked at The Red Lake Tribal Council for five years, Red Lake Housing for fifteen years, Red Lake Ameri-corps for five plus years then went on to The Red Lake Casino and retired in 2013.

Roxanne is survived by her children: Robert (Lakeisha) May, Alicia (Craig) Cook, Crystal (Deland) Raincloud and Martin (Andrea) Raincloud Jr.; sisters: Karen May, Carol (Ben) Bonga, Ruth Whitefeather, Laurie (Keenan) May and Diana May; brothers: Bill (Thelma) May and Herb (Carmen) May; thirteen grandchildren; numerous aunts, uncles and special friend: Dean Paddy.

Proceeded in death by her parents: Herb (Zemo) May and Melinda May, stepfather: Rupert Downwind Sr., children: Joshua Raincloud and Amy Raincloud, sisters: Gloria and Marilyn May, special friend: Clyde Perkins Sr., niece: Allison May, nephews: Simon Pacheco, Jordan Sumner, aunts & uncles.

Funeral services for Roxanne May will be held on Friday, February 21, 2014 at 10:00 A.M. at The Red Lake Community Center in Red Lake, Minnesota. Steve Jackson-Spiritual Advisor will officiate.

Interment will follow at the May Family Burial Grounds in Red Lake, Minnesota.

All night wakes will be held on Wednesday, February 19th and Thursday, February 20th beginning at 5:00 P.M. at The Red Lake Community Center in Red Lake, Minnesota.

Honorary Casket Bearers will be Val Jones, Lakeisha Beaulieu, Kelly Defoe, Dean Paddy, Andrea Jourdain, Connie Berg, Georgiana Jourdain, Wendell Blue, Bobbie Jo Beaulieu, Muriel McGraw, Kristin Roberts and all her sisters, brothers and nieces.

Casket Bearers will be Craig Cook, Deland Beaulieu, Dominic Johnson, Winter Kingbird, Davis Rosebear, Wes May.

Alternate Casket Bearers will be all her nephews.
