It is with deep sorrow that the family of Travis "Cowboy" Michael Hanks announce that he was called home to the Lord on June 22, 2024, at the age of 39.

Funeral Services will be held on Wednesday, July 3, 2024 at 12:00 PM, noon, at the First English Lutheran Church in Menahga, MN, with Rev. James Hallaway officiating. Visitation will be one hour prior to the funeral at the church. Interment will be in the Zion Lutheran Cemetery in Toad Lake Township, MN.

Travis was born in Bemidji, Minnesota to Glen and Tamie Hanks of Blackduck on December 18, 1984. Attending school and graduating from Kelliher High School. He participated in football, FFA, and 4H, going to state with dairy cows and chickens.

Travis grew up on his parent's dairy farm developing a deep love for cows and horses; he lived his life as a Cowboy. He told stories of his youth, spending nights out in the cow pasture, just him, his horse and the sky. His favorite stories included a sleepy bear cub he named Buddy, and calling each bear he came upon through the years "Buddy" as well.

Travis made his home in Menahga, working as a Herdsman for Spadgenske Dairy, he became well known to the area as "Cowboy". He would often comment that he felt very lucky to have his dream job, he took pride in working hard to be sure the animals were well taken care of. Always making himself available when you needed a hand with your horses and cattle, he would bring with him a can do attitude, never turning down a challenge. His jocular personality, his memorable laugh and fun loving free spirit will be missed. Taking every chance he had to ride and work with his horses. He continued to educate himself, learning to become avid horseman. He enjoyed sharing his knowledge of horses and cattle and took great pride in giving all of his children their first ride on horseback. It was his dream to share his passion for horses with his children. When he was not working horses or cattle he enjoyed riding his motorcycle, he could often be spotted riding his Harley Davidson wearing his cowboy hat.

All 5 of his children, along with two-step children were the light of his life. He was a wonderful, loving father who loved each of his children dearly. He enjoyed taking them to many community events, and attending school functions as best he could, often being known to arrive fashionably late, as time was just a number to him. One of his favorite sayings being "I might be late but I made it."

He leaves behind his parents, Glen and Tamie Hanks of Blackduck. His five children, Connor, Bailey, Aiden, Pistol and Harley Hanks, and his two step-children, Payton Jourdan and Shawn Williams Jr., all of whom he adored. His ex-wife Amanda Hanks of Menahga. His siblings Trent (Tina) Hanks of Kelliher, April (Tim) Spears of Blackduck, and Troy (Kelly) of Shooks. His grandparents, Delores Jaeger of Northome and Edith Hanks of Kelliher. His nephews, nieces, cousins, aunts and uncles and his horses.

He was preceded in death by his grandfathers, Milo Hanks and Harold Jaeger, and his uncle Johnnie Hanks.
