17-year-old is arrested on suspicion of fatally shooting man found in SUV in St. Paul

The shooting marks the city's 12th homicide this year

A teenager was arrested Tuesday in connection with the fatal shooting of a man who was found inside an SUV that crashed late Monday on St. Paul's East Side.

The victim died at the scene of the crash, near York Avenue and Van Dyke Street in the Eastern Hazel Park neighborhood, said Police Sgt. Mike Ernster.

The arrest of the suspect, a 17-year-old boy, occurred Tuesday morning during a traffic stop in Little Canada near Interstate 35E, police said. The teen was jailed on suspicion of second-degree murder and being a minor in possession of a gun. Charges are pending.
