Motorcyclist who crashed, died in Robbinsdale after police pursuit called off, identified

A motorcyclist who died after crashing early Friday in Robbinsdale, moments after police had called off a pursuit, was identified Saturday.

Lucas Zander Weyenberg, 21, of Victoria, died due to blunt force craniocerebral injuries in the accident, according the Hennepin County Medical Examiner's Office.

A Crystal police officer spotted Weyenberg's motorcycle traveling at a high speed on eastbound 42nd Avenue N. near Winnetka Avenue just after midnight. The officer attempted to stop the him, but he sped away, said Crystal Deputy Police Chief Brian Hubbard.
