Lashawn L. Ironhawk

March 15, 1994 - May 25, 2024

LaShawn LaNae IronHawk, 30 passed away on Saturday, May 25, 2024, at Essentia Hospital in Fargo ND.

LaShawn was born on March 15, 1994, to the proud mother of Darlys IronHawk at Mercy Hospital, Devils Lake. She was mostly raised in the Devils Lake area where she attended elementary school. In her teen years she attended Rugby and Rolla Junior and Senior High School and graduated in Rolla with the class of 2012. LaShawn wanted to study law to become a police officer, but never accomplished her goal.

In LaShawn's childhood years, she and her two siblings were in foster care for a time. She loved playing in the park with her brother and sister, pushing them on the swing, and spinning the merry-go-around. She also liked to go to the pow-wows with her grandma and grandpa.

She worked at various jobs throughout her life-she worked at the One Stop Cenex Station, Old Main as a cook, Marco's Pizza and as a slot tech and Snack Bar cook at the Spirit Lake Casino. At present she was employed as a cashier at Leever's Foods but felt ill and went to the Emergency Room in Devils Lake and was transported to Essentia Hospital where she passed away.

LaShawn's favorite colors were the Viking colors and blue and black. She was a major fan of the Minnesota Vikings, and her basketball team favorite was the Timber Wolves.

She had to have ketchup on all her food, especially mashed potatoes, other favorites were Powerade, orange and grape pop were her favorite drinks. At her last employment, she always made her co-workers laugh and was always smiling. She never showed people she was hurting. She loved Selena and her music. One of her dreams was to make enough money to go to Corpus Christi, Texas and see the Selena Museum. Now my girl could go anywhere she wants.

She spent her toddler years with her favorite foster parents; Paul and Holly Niemi: her teen years with her other foster parents: Harry and Jody Burns who cherished her very much. They were heartbroken when they heard the sad news.

LaShawn will be missed by all who got to know her. She was so precious to her family.

The family of LaShawn would like to thank CHI Hospital who cared for her until she was transported to Essentia Hospital in Fargo. A special thank you to the nurses and physicians in Essentia who made her comfortable in her last hours; the Doctor who did not give up on LaShawn and did everything he could to save her. We are so thankful for that. LaShawn is now with her baby sister and brother.

LaShawn is survived by her loving family. Her mother Darlys; grandmother Elizabeth Lawrence; grandpa Josie Lawrence; little brother whom she cherished Alvin Brown Jr.; aunts Bessie, Esther, Ella, Ranae, Sharlen, Darcie, and Eunice Abraham; uncles Roudie, Jason and Glen Abraham and other aunts and uncles too many to name, numerous cousins, nieces, nephews, and friends.
