Steven J. Rainey, of the Eagle Clan, age 54, passed away on Thursday, May 16, 2024, in Red Lake, MN.

Steven was born on March 23, 1970, in Minneapolis, MN to Mary Rainey and James Neadeau Jr. He grew up in the cities and worked for Velocity Express for several years before moving to Red Lake. In Red Lake, he continued to work various jobs to provide for his family in any way he could. Steven loved gaming, going to the casino, and hanging out with friends. He also enjoyed going to powwows, spending time with his family, woodworking, and watching Star Trek. Steven will be remembered for having such funny humor. He was always cracking jokes while drinking his favorite drink Mtn Dew. Not only was he funny he was also very knowing and wise. Anytime his kids had questions, he was always the number one guy to call. He loved his children and grandchildren and looked forward to spending time with them. He was a big teddy bear and will always be remembered for his heart of gold.

He will be lovingly remembered by his children: Dana Rainey, Breanna (Jimmy Fineday), Ethan Rainey, Bruce Sayers Jr, Kareena Rainey, Brennon Sayers, Stephanie Rainey, Steve “TeeTee” (Nevaeh) Rainey, Staar Rainey, Rox’sen Rainey, Marcello Loud, Marcella Loud, Marcus Garcia; Father figure: Dave Loud; grandchildren: Daunte, Bradley, Nico, Brielle, Latasia, Leo and another grandbaby on the way; siblings: Denise Rainey, Chad Rainey, Josette Rainey, Jonelle Rainey, Darla Neadeau, Nicole Neadeau, Troy Thompson; as well as numerous other relatives and friends.

Steven is preceded in death by his parents: Mary Poler and James Neadeau Jr; daughter: Naomi Rainey; siblings: Wenona Poler, Gary Poler; maternal grandparents: Angie and Kenneth Rainey Sr; paternal grandparents: Kate and James Neadeau Sr; nephew: Marcel Rainey; niece: Mercedes Diaz.

The wake will begin at 3 PM on Monday, May 20, 2024, at the New Red Lake Center in Red Lake and continue until the service at 3 PM on Wednesday, May 22, 2024 with Father John Christianson officiating.
