Nevaeh Fairbanks, age 18, of Detroit Lakes, MN, died unexpectedly on Wednesday, May 1, 2024, at her home.

Nevaeh AnnMarie Fairbanks, the daughter of Heather Wichern and Jacob Bachman, was born in Detroit Lakes on April 4, 2006. At a young age, she was diagnosed with Epilepsy. Her youth was not without a variety of trials and tribulations but with her positive outlook and easy-going spirit Nevaeh seemed to overcome them all. Her friends could always count on her as she was nonjudgemental and whatever the issue she could always turn the negatives into positives. With her high school graduation from LPA-Lake Agassiz on the horizon, she was enthusiastically looking to the future as a beautician. Nevaeh had plans to further her studies and attend St. Josef’s School of hair design in Moorhead, MN.

Nevaeh was your typical teenage girl whose favorite things included hanging out with her friends, laughing, and goofing around. Together they enjoyed putting on make-up, fixing their hair, painting their nails, and listening to music. One of her favorite artists was Juice Wrld. When she wasn’t with her friends, she could be found spending time with her siblings, and she had a soft spot for her mom’s two cats and dog.

Although Nevaeh is gone from this life too soon and so suddenly, she will live on in the hearts of all who knew and loved her.

Nevaeh leaves behind her mother, Heather (Cassidy) Johnson; father, Jacob Bachman; grandparents: Laurel (Papa Clyde) Fairbanks, Debra Jenkins and Faye (George) Johnson; great grandpa, Bert Wichern; sisters: Ali Johnson, Dylann Bowdish and Zoey Chounard; brothers, Isaiah Johnson and Zayne Johnson; in addition to numerous aunts, uncles and cousins. She was preceded in death by her grandpa, Alan “Sonny” Wichern Sr.; great grandma, Victoria Wichern; great grandparents, LeRoy and Annette Fairbanks; aunt, Landa Wichern; great aunt, Lorna LaGue and great uncle, LeRoy “Lee” Fairbanks.

A Funeral service will be held Thursday, May 9, 2024, at 2:00 p.m. at Anderson Family Funeral Home in Mahnomen, MN. Visitation will take place one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.
