Construction on Highway 34 Osage to Park Rapids begins May 13

Motorists will detour utilizing Becker CR 48 and Highway 71

BEMIDJI, Minn. – The Minnesota Department of Transportation announced today, construction on Highway 34 from Osage to Park Rapids will begin May 13. The project limits include from County Road 26/47 west of Osage to Western Avenue in Park Rapids. Motorists will detour utilizing Becker CR 48 and Highway 71.

The project includes a full depth pavement reclamation, shoulder widening, culvert replacements, and sidewalk upgrades in Osage. The project is expected to be complete in mid-September, weather permitting. For more information as well as a detour map, visit the project website:

Benefits of the project include a safer road, improved drainage, pedestrian improvements, and a smoother and longer lasting driving surface. Anderson Brothers is the contractor for the $8.4 million project.

• Stay alert; work zones constantly change.

• Watch for workers and slow-moving equipment.

• Obey posted speed limits. Fine for a violation in a work zone is $300.
