Deputy shoots wanted man during arrest in Montrose, sheriff says

A Wright County deputy shot a man on Monday while trying to arrest him on warrants outside a store west of the Twin Cities, according to a Sheriff's Office news release.

Deputies responded around 1 p.m. to the Dollar General at 631 Nelson Blvd. in Montrose to attempt to arrest the man on outstanding arrest warrants, the office said in the release. The town is about 35 miles west of downtown Minneapolis.

The deputies tried to arrest the man as he exited the store, but he refused to comply with the deputies' commands and brandished a firearm, the Sheriff's Office said. The deputies deployed "less than lethal measures" on the man, who continued to resist arrest while brandishing a gun, according to the release.
