Sanford Health welcomes Ashley Huerd, MD, to Sanford Bemidji Children's team

BEMIDJI, Minn. – Sanford Health welcomes Ashley Huerd, MD, to the children's team at the Sanford Bemidji 1611 Anne St. Clinic.

Dr. Huerd specializes in providing pediatric care to preemies, infants, children and adolescents. Her services include monitoring pediatric patients growth and development and diagnosing and treating diseases. She advocates for safe sleep for infants and takes time to educate parents on safe and unsafe sleep environments over the course of infancy for their child. Dr. Huerd also provides support for LGBTQIA+ patients.

Other services provided by Dr. Huerd include treating acute childhood illnesses, pediatric preventative health care, primary care, growth and development checks, health education and counseling, physical exams, referrals to specialists and more.

Dr. Huerd attended medical school at Ross University School of Medicine in Dominica, West Indies, and completed her residency at Memorial Health University Medical Center in Savannah, Ga. She is certified by the American Board of Pediatrics.

In her spare time, Dr. Huerd enjoys hiking near mountains and waterfalls, kayaking, crocheting, reading and fishing both in a boat and on the ice. She grew up in a small town in Georgia, but often vacationed where her father grew up in Lake of the Woods County.
