Daniel Floyd Bellanger, Jr., age 68, travelled to the spirit world on Wednesday, March 6, 2024 in Fargo, ND.

Daniel was born in Red Lake, MN, to Daniel Sr. and Phyllis. He grew up in Redby until the family moved to Minneapolis. He lived there for many years before returning to Bemidji, Red Lake area.

Daniel achieved many goals in his life. He served in the US Army for many years before continuing onto new adventures. He sang with the Champion Red Lake Singers on the pow wow trail with his brothers Tiny, Steve Bellanger and Willy Strong. Later on in life, Daniel graduated from culinary school in 1981.

Cooking was Daniel's passion. He was known to be the Best Fish Fryer around. His passion also led him to be the head cook at the Red Lake Jail where he worked for years before he semi-retired. Daniel enjoyed going to the casino and taking trips to the cities. That is where he enjoyed spending time with all his family there. He will always be known for his quick-witted responses and always making everyone laugh. He will be missed by many.

Daniel is survived by his son, Ed Bellanger; brother, Joseph "Tiny" (Lavina) Bellanger; sister, Joyce Strong; aunt, Alberta Zamora; grandchildren, Danielle and Dominic Bellanger; sisters-in-law: Diane Bellanger and Carol Charnoski; as well as many cousins, nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews.

Those greeting him in the spirit world are his parents, Daniel Sr. and Phyllis; son, Daniel "Chunky" Bellanger III; brothers: Roy Roberts, Arthur, Dwight Sr., David Bellanger, Antone Bellanger, Melvin Jourdain; sisters: Lorraine Bellanger and Judy Bellanger; as well as many aunts, uncles, and cousins.

A traditional wake will begin at 2PM on Saturday, March 9, 2024, at the New Red Lake Center in Red Lake and continue until the service on Monday, March 11, 2024. Active pallbearers will be: Ed Bellanger, Darnell Bellanger, David Jourdain, Dwight Bellanger, Jr., Isaiah Redday, Josh Redday, and alternates: Rupert Bellanger and Brandon Miller. Honorary pallbearers will be: Steve and Roberta Bellanger, Joseph "Tiny" Bellanger, Wanda Bellanger, Damien Charnoski, Darian Bellanger, Daniel Bellanger, Ryan Jourdain, Isaac Redday, Willy Strong, Andrea Kapishkowit, Alicia Jourdain, Celeste Jourdain, friends and family. Burial will be at St. Mary's Cemetery in Red Lake.
