Eleanor Sargent, age 56, of Naytahwaush, MN, died unexpectedly on Saturday, March 2, 2024.

Eleanor Mary was born May 8, 1967, in Minneapolis, MN, the daughter of Melvin and Avonelle (Wadena) Sargent. At a young age, the family moved to the Naytahwaush area. She attended grade school in Naytahwaush followed by Mahnomen High School. In 1986, Eleanor was united in marriage to Louis Fox Jr. and they were blessed with a daughter, Samantha. The couple later divorced, and Eleanor remained living in the Naytahwaush area. When the Shooting Star Casino opened, she worked as a slot attendant for a few years. Eleanor met Mason Smith and was blessed with three boys: Dayton, Trenton and Ian to complete their family. Later, she attended college classes at the White Earth Community College, where she aced her courses and became a professional carpenter. She was a phenomenal house cleaner and enjoyed making a living at it.

Eleanor will be remembered as a high-spirited gal and a bit of a fanatic when it came to keeping things clean. She was also very giving, a great storyteller and had a great sense of humor. Eleanor loved spending time with her family, especially her grandkids, who were her pride and joy. She will be greatly missed by many.
