Keith William "Koogie" Defoe, Ma' IIngan meaning "Wolf" of the Bear Clan, and of Redby, Mn started his journey from Sanford hospital in Frago, ND on January 30, 2024. He was born on February 14, 1950, to Leonard Stately and Priscilla DeFoe in Red Lake, MN. He grew up in the west end of Red Lake.

Keith's care has been entrusted to Northern Peace Funeral Home of Walker MN. He was born on February 14, 1950, to Leonard Stately and Priscilla DeFoe in Red Lake, MN. He grew up in the west end of Red Lake.

Keith met the love of his life Jacqueline and married her on June 26, 1971. Jacquelin and Keith were married for 53 wonderful years. Keith enjoyed hunting, fishing, and playing softball for the Renegades softball league as well as playing basketball for Rez league. Keith dedicated many years coaching youth softball teaching the young to play the sport he loved. He was known as quite the jokester. Keith loved to watch all sports, he was an avid Vikings fan, even though he would complain about them. He liked to go to pow wows all over the nation and watch his children dance.

Those greeting Keith in the spirit world are his parents; Priscilla Defoe and Leonard Stately; son Darren Defoe Sr .; siblings Sandra Defoe, David Defoe, Eliza Defoe, Daniel Defoe, Richard "Ticker" Defoe, Kathy DeFoe, Rodney Defoe, Bruce Stately, Alvin Downwind, Maurice Stately, Theodore Graves and Leonard Stately Jr.

Family Keith leaves behind are his wife of 53 years Jacqueline A. Defoe; son, Frank (Lisa) Defoe; daughter, Jacqueline (Jerritte) Defoe-Caldwell; special daughter, Buffy Barrett; sisters, Melvina Defoe, Tina (Ed) Stately, Marlene (John) Stately and Diane Roy; brothers, Sheldon Defoe Sr., Mike Defoe Sr., Pat (Lisa) Defoe Sr., Ty (Diane) Stately, Gordon Johnson and Leonardo Francis Hayes; joys of his life (Grandchildren) Shanise Rosebear, Kailee (Joe) Defoe, Darren Defoe Jr., Kiersten Iceman, Kylah Defoe, Jayla (Chris) Caldwell-Hines, Keith Caldwell, Kameryn Defoe and Jerritte Caldwell Jr .; special granddaughters, Alexandra Roy and Natanne Caldwell; great-grandchildren, Michael Kingbird Jr., Kinslee Johnson, Kaislyn Johnson, Kaileb Johnson, Karsyn Johnson and Emani Johnson.

A two-day wake for Keith will begin at 4:00 p.m. on February 2, 2024, and continue until his 10:00 a.m. service on February 4, 2024, all to be held at the Redby Center in Redby, MN. Pallbearers for Keith will be Keith Caldwell, Jerritte Caldwell Sr., Anthony Patterson, Cody Cook, Justin Auginash Sr., Joe Johnson, Darren Defoe Jr. and Frank Defoe. Alternate pallbearer is Jerritte Caldwell Jr. Honorary pallbearers are Julius" Toady" Thunder, Gary Thunder, Peggy Thunder, Ron Lussier, Alexandra Roy, Melissa Owens, Mike Beaulieu, Dale Beaulieu, Lisa k. Defoe, Arlen "Bushman" Roberts, Jamie Auginash Sr., Wally Holstien, Lisa B. Defoe, Angie Defoe, and Connie Defoe. Interment for Keith will immediately following the service.
