Alfred "Tig" Raymond Pemberton Sr.

Alfred "Tig" Raymond Pemberton Sr., "Giniw" means Golden Eagle of Mission MN, began his journey January 27, 2024.

He was born March 4, 1945, in Cass Lake, MN to Alfred Pemberton and Susan "Tombay" (Whitebird) Pemberton, of Mission, MN. Alfred grew up in Mission and lived in numerous places until he returned home in 1970. Alfred attended and graduated from Cass Lake School, entered into the United States Army, upon his return he attended Haskell College and Globe College. Alfred enjoyed many sports, recreational league with many local basketball players, he had a women's softball team called the Tig's Tornado's and later became a regular of the Minnesota Indian Golf Classic. Alfred later became the Secretary Treasurer of Leech Lake and then Chairman for about 22 years of his career, his passion was helping the community and families of Leech Lake. Alfred loved attending pow-wow's, especially the Mii-gwech Mahnomen days held in Ball Club, MN always enjoyed the pig roast. Alfred loved and enjoyed his grandchildren and great grandchildren, family gatherings, picnics and cookouts. Enjoyed watching his grandkids excel in sports.

He is welcomed home by his parents Alfred and Susan Pemberton, his two sisters Carol Kingbird and Bernice Pemberton, three of his children Roxanne, Ray and Rita Pemberton, a granddaughter Jordan Pemberton and many cousins and relatives.

Those he leaves behind to cherish his memory: his wife Sally Pemberton, daughters Rochelle (Joe) Pemberton, Rebecca (LeRoy) Fairbanks and 13 grandchildren, and 13 great grandchildren.

Honorary Pallbearers are Nick Cook, Rocky Cook, John MacCarthy, Bob Ness, Henry Harper, Donnie Headbird, Robert Headbird, Joe Wind, LeRoy Fairbanks III, Ted Bogda, Darryl Drouillard as well as his immediate friends and acquaintances.

Active Pallbearers will be Cody Wind, Kyle Pemberton, LeRoy Fairbanks IV, Dominic Fairbanks, Alternate will be Andrew Loewe and Jayden Pemberton.

A two-night wake will be held at the Mission Community Center starting on Tuesday, January 30, 2024, at 7:00 PM, with services held on Thursday, February 1, 2024, at 11:00 AM, with Reverend Bill Butcher presiding. A burial will take place at a later date and time.
