ALASKA TOWNSHIP FATAL CRASH

Alaska Township, Beltrami County, MN – A 76 year old female died in a crash on Lumberjack Road NW (County State Aid Highway 32) approximately four miles east of Minnesota Highway 89 in Alaska Township. At approximately 7:15am on Friday, January 12, 2024 the Beltrami County Emergency Communications Center received an emergency call reporting the crash.

The preliminary investigation indicates a 2014 Buick Verano was traveling eastbound on Lumberjack Road NW when it was observed passing a farm implement in a no passing zone at the crest of a hill. A 2000 Ford F150 was traveling westbound and met the Buick in a head-on collision. The driver and sole occupant of the Buick was pronounced deceased after exhaustive life saving measures by first responders. The driver of the Ford suffered minor injuries and was not transported by ambulance.

The name of the deceased is being withheld for notification of family. The Beltrami County Sheriff’s Office extends its condolences to the family.

The Beltrami County Sheriff’s Office was assisted by Red Lake Ambulance, Red Lake Police Department, Red Lake Fire Department, Alaska Fire Department, Minnesota State Patrol, Blackduck Ambulance and North Country First Responders.
