John Alan Gordon sentenced to 80 months in Wadena County for 1st degree Drug Sales

On January 3rd, 2024, John Alan Gordon, 34, of rural Waubun was sentenced to 80 months in Wadena County for 1st degree Drug Sales.

On September 20th, 2022, at the direction of the White Earth Police Department, a traffic stop was conducted by the Wadena County Sheriff’s Office on a vehicle driven by Gordon. During the investigation of the traffic stop approximately 362 grams of Fentanyl was seized.

The Fentanyl seized from Gordon was sent to the Minnesota Bureau of Criminal Apprehension’s Lab. The lab concluded that the Fentanyl was mixed with Xylazine.

Fentanyl mixed with Xylazine is also known as “Tranq”. Xylazine is a non-opioid animal tranquilizer. Naloxone (Narcan) does not reverse an overdose of Xylazine. Due to Xylazine being mixed with Fentanyl and other opiates when someone is overdosing on “Tranq”, they should still be given Naloxone.

The White Earth Police Department was assisted by the Paul Bunyan Drug Task Force, Headwaters Safe Trails Task Force, West Central Drug and Violent Crime Task Force, Minnesota Bureau of Criminal Apprehension, Becker County Sheriff’s Office, Mahnomen County Sheriff’s Office, Wadena County Sheriff’s Office, Wadena County Attorney’s Office, and the United States Attorney’s Office. Multiple individuals were arrested and are pending trial/sentencing as a result of this case.
