The Coalition of Large Tribes responds the approximately 4,200 missing and murdered cases that have gone unsolved by providing 3 days of Advanced Training on Missing Murdered Indigenous in Billings Montana.

October 17, 2023

The Coalition of Large Tribes Executive Board by motion directed COLT to put together a training to respond to the horrific crises on Missing and Murdered Indigenous Women & People. As of now and throughout history Tribal Law Enforcement has been short funded and needs an operation budget of 2.9 billion and our funding agency the Bureau of Indian Affairs only get 2.4 billion. So we know that to do more with less, we need to provide advance training for Tribal Law Enforcement to deter these atrocities happening to our people.

The Indigenous people of the United States have been massacred throughout this Country’s history and after the Massacre at Wounded Knee, US Soldiers were given Medals of Honor, the highest award in the Country for the Murder of over 300 unarmed men, women and children including babies. As long as the United States continues to Honor those that have committed these Murders it fuels the atrocities of Missing Murdered Indigenous Women/Men & Children.

The Training will be provided by nationally recognized experts with the Vidocq Society (https://www.vidocq.org/) , National Center for Missing & Exploited Children (https://www.missingkids.org/home), Bureau of Indian Affairs, The Missing and Murdered Unit (https://www.bia.gov/service/mmu), Bureau of Indian Affairs, United States Indian Police Academy, (https://www.bia.gov/bia/ojs/indian-police-academy).

The Training will be held from October 23rd to October 25th in Billing Montana, and the venue will be at the Billings Hotel & Convention Center located at, 1223 Mullowney Ln, Billings, MT 59101.

Currently we have Tribes from Alaska, South Dakota, the Montana, Navajo Nation will be representing the states of Arizona, New Mexico and Utah, and Tribes from the State of Nevada. This Training will also be available virtually through zoom.
