BENA - Students and staff at Bug-O-Nay-Ge-Shig School were in for a surprise on Wednesday afternoon as Gov. Tim Walz and Lt. Gov. Peggy Flanagan toured their school before a joint meeting with the Leech Lake Band of Ojibwe.
Aiming to address priorities and concerns of Leech Lake and Bug-O-Nay-Ge-Shig, Walz and Flanagan first took some time to navigate the halls, speak with youth and teachers alike, and describe a little bit about their roles.
The school's cultural arts room was the first stop, followed by the fourth-grade classroom where students were eager to learn more about the duo.
