He grew up in Red Lake and attended school in Red Lake, Wahpeton, North Dakota, and Voyagers in Bemidji. He was working on his GED as well and wanted to attend college. Gus also lived with his girlfriend, Torrance in Pine Ridge, SD where he had got to know her family and friends. He also worked in Pine Ridge for Security Border Patrol for Pine Ridge Reservation. Gus also had other jobs as well in construction, carpentry, cook, security and he loved working any chance he could.

Gus was known for his contagious beautiful smile, kindness and respect for others. He was always considerate, very compassionate and empathic to others. He was very loyal to family and friends and was always willing to help anyone in need of help no matter what it was. Gus loved his family siblings, nephews, and nieces with all his heart and soul. He would go to great lengths to help everyone. He loved to play basketball with his brother Jaden or just chill with his nieces and nephews by taking them for rides or taking them to the park to play or go swimming. Gus would always step up to babysit for them and never say no. He loved cooking for them and whoever else would happen to be there. Gus also loved hunting with his sister Jenny, brother-in-law, Dewlyn, and brother, Jaden. He would go any time someone wanted to go. He loved to draw pictures and play games online with all his cyber friends and Torrance. Gus is very much loved by family and friends and will live on through our cherished memories.
