Derrick Strauss, a cannabis glassware artist, on Tuesday enjoyed a puff on a dab rig in Minneapolis.

Recreational marijuana became legal Tuesday, but smoking the drug and the sale of THC and CBD products remain prohibited at the Minnesota State Fair, officials said this week.

In a statement, fair officials said there has been no change in policy regarding the use of marijuana and sale of related products at the fairgrounds.

The State Fair, which opens Aug. 24 and ends Labor Day, Sept. 4, will continue to allow cigarette smoking and the use of vapes in designated smoking areas.
