Virginia (Ginger) Stately Obituary

We are sad to announce the passing of Virginia "Ginger" Stately of Red Lake, Minnesota. She died at 85 years old on June 24, 2023.

She was born on December 28, 1937 to Kendrick and Macalee McQueen in Mobile, Alabama.

She is survived by her wonderful husband, Roman Stately, Jr., her sister, Trisha Edwards, and her 5 children and spouses: Rhett & Kim Johnson, Monte & Becky Johnson, Jerri & Dana Allen, Sally & Tolly Van Brunt, Missi & David Lower and Greg & Debbie Stately. She has many grandchildren and great grandchildren.

She was a wonderful, wife, mother and grandmother. She loved to paint, dance, garden, sew, and was an amazing cook. Her children are so thankful to have had such a good mom, who was very kind, wise and strong.

Ginger was a stay at home mom until her youngest was around 6. She then worked for the Governor's Council on Indian Affairs in Tallahassee, Florida for about 10 years. She then moved to Red Lake, Minnesota in 1988 and married Roman Stately, Jr. in 1994. Over the years in Red Lake, she stayed busy planting flowers at various locations on the Red Lake Nation. She helped Roman with the logging ss, campaigning, and making lots of delicious food for various gatherings over the last 35 years. Ginger will be greatly missed!
