Gerald "Jerry" Wayne Chase

Gerald "Jerry" Wayne Chase, age 75, of the Bear Clan and Bena, MN, journeyed to the spirit world on Wednesday, May 10, 2023, from Neilson Place in Bemidji, MN. He was born on March 29, 1948, in Cass Lake, MN, the son of Tillie (Whitecloud) and Walter Chase, Sr.

After graduating from high school Jerry went on to serve in the United States Army from 1968 to 1971. Gerald met his wife, Lois, in Minneapolis, MN in 1973. They were married in 1975 at Birches Campground on Lake Winnibigoshish, Bena, MN. They were married for 37 wonderful years until Lois' passing on January 17, 2913.

Jerry was an avid outdoorsman, he loved ricing, hunting, taking rides in the woods, and was especially great at his berry picking, he even sold his berries to Kirby Puckett and Kent Hrbek of the Minnesota Twins back in the late 80's. He enjoyed spending time with family, especially family cookouts at Norway Beach. Jerry was a true MN Vikings and MN Twins fan and enjoyed watching professional basketball on tv. He served as part of the Leech Lake Veteran's Memorial Honor Guard for many years.

Those greeting Jerry in the spirit world are his parents, Tillie and Walter, Sr .; wife, Lois; stepson, Raymond; brothers, Donald, David, Harry, and Arthur; sisters, Leona, Lena, Marilyn, and Hilda; numerous nieces and nephews.

Those left behind to cherish Jerry's memory are his son, Greg Christopherson; brothers, Walter Chase, Jr., Joseph (Sharon) Chase; sister, Hazel Chase-Zimpel; 3 grandchildren, Sheila Devault, Carlos Lagard, Bradley Dudley; numerous nieces, nephews, and friends.

An overnight wake for Jerry will begin on Monday, May 15, 2023, at 4:00 p.m. and continue until his Tuesday, May 16, 2023, at 11:00 a.m. service, all to be held at the Dave Morgan Community Center in Bena, MN. Pastor O.T. Lopez will officiate. Those helping to lay Jerry to rest are Richard O'Brien, David Chase, Harry "Sonson" Chase, Jr., Arthur Chase, Gilberto Robinson, and Mike Kirt. Alternates are Rob Finn and Leland Whitefeather. Honorary pallbearers are Walter Chase, Jr., Joseph Chase, Hazel Chase-Zimpel, Doug Furhmen, Amber Dwyre, John Chase, Walter Chase III, and Gary Hanson. Military honors accorded by the Leech Lake Veteran's Memorial Honor Guard. Interment will be in Lakeview Cemetery in Bena, MN following services on Tuesday, May 16th.
