He worked on odd jobs as well, painting and fixing up houses and trapping small and big game, which he was very skilled at. Charlie was an excellent hunter and fisherman. He made a way of life living off the land and loved being in nature. He enjoyed being outdoors camping, wild ricing, leeching, gardening, harvesting, raising chickens and his piranhas, and four wheeling. He also loved walking. He would walk any where he could, especially to visit and hang out with friends or family to play cribbage. He had fun playing dice and gambling. Charlie was a talented carver and craft maker, especially making regalia. When he was younger, he participated in many Pow-Wows as a traditional dancer.

He is survived by his son, Nakoa Neeland of Mahnomen, MN; his son and daughter, Shannon Neadeau of Bemidji, MN and Negonequaye Neadeau of Cass Lake, MN; his sisters, Celestia Neeland of Mahnomen, MN, Lenora "Lenny" Neeland of Bagley, MN, and Sharon "Sherry" Neeland of Bagley, MN; his grandchildren, Brett King, Paige King, Kashanna Lussier, and Destiny Lussier and Nakoa's children; and many other family and friends.
