House Public Safety Committee advanced public safety bills authored by Rep. Cedrick Frazier to enhance public safety boards and violent crime reduction

SAINT PAUL, Minn. - Today, the House Public Safety Finance and Policy Committee advanced three bills authored by Rep. Cedrick Frazier (DFL-New Hope), which enhance public safety boards and reduce violent crime. HF 855 establishes a public safety innovation board. HF 538 revises the Peace Officer Standards and Training Board standards of conduct for peace officers. HF 25 establishes a violent crime reduction and clearance support account to support violent crime reduction strategies.

“These legislative proposals are designed to provide targeted funding and support for innovative and effective community safety strategies,” said Rep. Frazier. “By facilitating partnerships with local and county governments and community partners. As well as enhance infrastructure to provide appropriate responses to those experiencing a mental health crisis. The proposals also seek to ensure that there will be transparency and accountability between law enforcement and the communities they are sworn to protect and serve.”
