Rep. Leigh Finke votes to support funding for shelter providers

SAINT PAUL, Minn. - Tonight, the Minnesota House voted to pass needed resources that will help address Minnesota’s unsheltered homelessness crisis with a 73-57 vote. HF444 known as the Pathway Home Act, significantly increases funding to critical state programs that support shelter providers across Minnesota in their direct response and service to Minnesotans who are currently unsheltered.

Rep. Leigh Finke (DFL – Saint Paul) voted to support the legislation.

“Shelters save lives and keep people safe when they experience crisis. When youth from the LGBTQIA+ and trans community are kicked out of their family homes for being who they are, they end up having to exploit themselves and their labor to survive. The investment of $150 million in emergency shelter facilities and preserving or adding over 3,000 shelter beds will support youth by ensuring they do not have to compromise their worth or dignity to have a warm bed and meal as they work to transition into stable housing.”
