Jewel Sky Fineday, "Miikawaddizimikinaakikezens" meaning "Beautiful Turtle Girl", age 7, of the Bear Clan and Ponemah, MN journeyed to the spirit world on Sunday, December 25, 2022, from Red Lake IHS. She was born on September 24, 2015, in Bemidji, MN, the daughter of Tessa (Jones) and Julius Fineday.

Jewel loved to spend time watching TikTok on her dad's phone. When she wasn't watching videos, she would be playing hide and go seek and tag with her siblings and cousins. Jewel was a very quiet girl and when Grandpa would sing and beat his drum, she would dance just hard and out dance all the other kids. Jewel was always concerned about her dad, always making sure he was happy. She will be missed greatly by everyone who knew her. She loved the "Cat" and would hide the "Cat" when she was told to throw the cat out. She loved turtle especially sea turtles.

Greeting Jewel in the spirit world are her grandfather, Virgil Jones; great-grandparents, Philip and Alice Fineday, Myron and Vivian Rosebear, Margaret Miller-Dow, and William Jones, Sr.

Those Jewel leaves behind to cherish her memory are her dad, Julius Fineday; mom, Tessa Jones; brothers, John Thayer, Jr., Julius, Kacen, and Braylan Fineday, Jayden Thomas; sisters, Daizha Fineday, Tiaunna Fineday; grandparents, Phillip Fineday, Sharon M. Rosebear, Lynette Smith; cousins who were like siblings, Delainey Kingbird, Phillip R. Fineday, Erika, Makwa, Jacinda Rosebear; uncles, Wayne and Derrick Rosebear, Sr., Jerry Fineday, Corey Wipf, Sheldon Perkins, Derrick and Virgil Kingbird, Dillion King, Skylar Smith, Brandon Jones; aunties, Tiffany King, Derissa and Jamie Kingbird, Robyn Wipf; numerous cousins, great aunts and uncles.

A two-night wake for Jewel will begin on Wednesday, January 4, 2023, at 5:00 p.m. and continue until her Friday, January 6, 2023, 10:00 a.m. service, all to be held at the Ponemah Boys and Girls Club in Ponemah, MN. Jewel's Spiritual Advisor is Zac Early. Those helping to lay Jewel to rest are Derrick Rosebear, Jr., Wesley Cloud, Jr., Terrance Perkins, Davion Cloud, Marlyn Black, Jr., and Marvin Black. Honorary pallbearers are Delainey Kingbird, Erika and Jacinda Rosebear, Angela Raincloud, Vickey Fineday, Robb Fineday, Carene Fineday, Shaylee Graves, Judy Maxwell, Barbara and Christina Rosebear, Sandra Sonnenberg, Alison Fineday, Annie and Freida Fineday, and Debbie Cloud. Interment will be in the Family Burial Grounds in Ponemah, MN.
