Richard "Pugsly" Duane Budreau

Richard "Pugsly" Duane Budreau, age 44, Mish-kwaa-nikwad meaning "Red Cloud" of the Bear Clan and Cass Lake, MN started his spiritual journey on Wednesday, December 14, 2022, from Cass Lake Indian Health Services. Richard was born February 12,1978 in Bemidji, MN to Rita "Smitty" Buck and Roger "Denny Bugg" Budreau, Sr.

Richard was proud of his Ojibwe heritage and enjoyed practice their many traditions. He was talented on the Big Drum and was happy to teach this to his family and friends. Richard loved watching the Vikings play football with his uncles, being in the sweat lodge, ricing and just being outside. He took care of his ailing father up until his pass in October of 2022.

Those that Richard will be joining again are his parents, Rita Buck and Roger Budreau, Sr .; brother, George Earth; sister, Bonita Earth and longtime life partner, Barbara Ann "Punkin" Drouillard.

Those left behind to cherish Richard's memory are his sons, Nicholas Budreau, Kenny Staples, Richard Budreau, Jr., Cheyenne Budreau and Dewayne Budreau Hunts-Along; daughters, Vanessa Budreau and Aiyanna Jenkins; brothers, Cheyenne Budreau, Roger Buck, Roger Budreau, Jr., and Keith Buck; sisters, Rhonda (Anthony) Buck, Rebecca Budreau, Laura Buck, Penny Mart and Faye Neeland; grandchildren, Nick Budreau, Kya Budreau, Mira Budreau, Ryleigh Budreau and Waawaate Madigan; and many nieces, nephews and great nieces and nephews.

A wake for Richard will begin on Tuesday, December 20,2022, at 7:00 p.m. at the Cass Lake Facility Center. Reverend Bill Butcher will be serving the family. Funeral services will be Wednesday, December 21,2022 at 1:00 p.m. held at St. Peter's Episcopal Church in Cass Lakes. Pallbearers will be Kyle Fairbanks, Alden Fairbanks, Robert Budreau, Jr., Joshua Wind, Sr., Harold Fairbanks, Kenny James Hare, Gilbert Littlewolf, Jr., and Amos LaDuke. Alternate pallbearers are Anthony Ferguson and Chad Budreau. Honorary pallbearers the Hare Boys Drum Group. Interment will be in the Prince of Peace Cemetery in Cass Lake, Minnesota.
