Springboard for the Arts partners with organizations and artists to deliver locally made art to Minnesota homes!

In partnership with Minnesota-based arts organizations MN Center for Book Arts, Bench Pressed Letterpress, Bruno Press, Creative Handmade Goods and our own Ready Made program, Springboard for the Arts will be offering three boxes of artwork beginning in February 2023, each one curated by our partners and featuring handcrafted artwork by local makers.

Springboard for the Arts’ Community Supported Art (CSA) program was first created in January 2010 in partnership with mnartists.org, and has since continued through 2021. The essence of Community Supported Art is building new economic models for local producers, and to encourage reciprocity between artists and the larger community. Since its launch, CSA has been replicated in over 60 communities across the United States and Canada, and returned in a mail-based format in 2021. For this offering, we are excited to work with organizations across Minnesota.

Springboard is partnering with these organizations to curate the CSA boxes:

Bruno Press is a one-woman letterpress print shop based in St. Joseph, Minnesota. All of their work is produced on 100 year old presses with hand-set wood and lead type, and hand-carved linoleum blocks.

Bench Pressed Letterpress & Design was launched in 2012 by co-owners Jane & Andy Shannon. Based in South Minneapolis, their business has since expanded to four presses and collaborations with numerous local makers and small business owners.

A respected and dedicated champion of the field, the Minnesota Center for Book Arts is the largest and most comprehensive center of its kind. They celebrate the book as a dynamic contemporary art form that takes many shapes. Bruno Press, Bench Pressed and MN Book Arts will co-create the February 2023 CSA box.

Creative Handmade Goods is a retail store located in the heart of downtown Fergus Falls, MN featuring the work of an ever-rotating list of lakes area artists and makers. The owner, Jan Werkau, herself a creative, is a former corporate executive who sought out something more in 2010 and never looked back. Creative Handmade Goods will curate the artists featured in the CSA box for March, 2023.

First launched in 2021, Springboard for the Arts’ Ready Made program brings together a rolling collection of beautifully crafted one-of-a-kind pieces by local artists and makers across Minnesota. Three artists from the program will be featured in the CSA box for April, 2023.
