Beltrami County Jail inmate attempts suicide

Bemidji, MN—December 8, 2022: On December 7, 2022, at approximately 11:34 AM, an inmate of the Beltrami County Jail was found by staff attempting to take their own life. Corrections Officers and medical staff immediately rendered aid and the subject was transported by ambulance to the Sanford Emergency Department, Bemidji, MN and was later transferred to a Fargo area medical facility.

This incident is currently being investigated by the Minnesota Bureau of Criminal Apprehension at the request of Sheriff Beitel. No other information is available. Further inquiries should be directed to the Information Officer of the MN BCA.
