Cross Country Running Championships

THUNDER BAY, ON, November 18, 2022 – Confederation College student, Jamie Kovacic, competed at the Canadian Colleges Athletic Association (CCAA) National Cross Country Running Championship. Kovacic travelled to Medicine Hat, Alberta to compete in the Championships after qualifying at the Ontario Colleges Athletic Association (OCAA) Cross Country Championships hosted by the Student Union of Confederation College (SUCCI) at Lappe Nordic Centre in October.

Kovacic ran an amazing race on November 12, finishing 34th out of 166 runners at the National Championships and was the 4th Ontarian student-athlete to cross the finish line. She represented SUCCI, Confederation College and Ontario with absolute professionalism, pride, integrity and enthusiasm for the sport.

"I was quite happy to improve from last year's race and finish in the top quarter of the field. Being from Thunder Bay, the cold weather and snow packed trails worked to my advantage. It was satisfying to be the 4th best OCAA runner while finishing 11th at Lappe 2 weeks ago," Jamie Kovacic stated.

This was Jamie's second time travelling to the National Championships after qualifying in the provincial race. Jamie is currently studying Practical Nursing and is set to graduate in 2023.
