It is with deep sadness we announce the passing of Stanley Bird, age 81 of Whitefish Bay. Stanley passed away on Friday, November 11, 2022 with his family by his side.

He was predeceased by his parents, Florence and Stephen Bird, his brother Arthur, sister Lillian (Wawa), his grandparents Antoinette and Louise, Maggie and Joe.

He will be dearly missed by his loving wife Evelyn Tom of 56 years, his children Sharon, Leona (Brian), Jonny (Sonny), Charla (Bruce), Stanford, Shelda, Irene, Hazhu (Lisa), Delores (Alec Jr.), Angie , Felicia (Brandon), Darcy, Terence Goodwill, Gwen Redsky, Patricia Copenace, Christine Pewaush, Tessie and Jay Barrett, Gary and Crystal Smith, as well as many grandchildren, great grandchildren, great great grandchildren. His siblings Nora, Joanne, Theresa, Isobel, Alvin and many nieces and nephews. Not to mention all of his pow-wow family and friends.

Stanley spent his life, guiding, playing hockey for WFB Rangers, jigging and is well known throughout pow-wow country.

He adored spending time with his whole family especially for get togethers. He also loved to play cards, gamble at the casino and enjoyed the outdoors maintaining his yard.

Pallbearers will be Ronald Bird, Travis White, Alec Medicine, Bruce Crow, Kelsey Blackhawk, Jyles Copenace, Manno Copenace, Alex Copenace and Maverick Blackhawk.

Honorary pallbearers Raymond Paypompee, Sonny White, Dan Jourdain, Gus Landon, Hanisha Singers, Jonathan Windyboy, Ivan Lonechild, Rodney Isnana, Travis Debungie, Mary Ann Patrick, Bruce Kavanaugh, Irene Oakes, Wayne Paypompee, BJ Copenace and Mandaree Singers, High Noon Singers, Royce Kingbird and Stoney Park Singers.

The family would like to thank the Doctors and Nurses at Lake of the Woods District Hospital, BaiBomBeh Anishinabe School, Naotkamegwanning Administration and Health Services.

Wake service will begin on Wednesday, November 16, 2022 at 12:00pm at Bai Bom Beh School Gymnasium, Whitefish Bay, Ontario. Funeral service will be held Friday, November 18, 2022 at 10:00am at Bai Bom Beh School Gymnasium with interment to follow in Whitefish Bay First Nation.
