WASHINGTON — On Wednesday, November 16, Assistant Secretary for Indian Affairs Bryan Newland will testify before the U.S. Senate Committee on Indian Affairs at a legislative hearing on a variety of Indian water rights settlement bills.
Assistant Secretary Newland will present the Department's views on, S. 4870, Tule River Tribe Reserved Water Rights Settlement Act of 2022; S. 4896, Pueblos of Jemez and Zia Water Rights Settlement Act of 2022; and S. 4898, Pueblos of Acoma and Laguna Water Rights Settlement Act of 2022.
The Interior Department is committed to delivering long-promised water resources to Tribes, certainty to non-Indian neighbors, and a solid foundation for future economic development for entire communities dependent on common water resources.
